Masterpiece Carving!
Shaimout's Narwhal Man is one of the most imaginative Inuit sculptures I have seen in the past seventeen years.
First, the ftusk-like projection from the forehead immediately conveys the message "This creature is NOT human.
Narwhal Man is no a fanciful merman.
Mermen would have human arms.
Narwhal Man has fins!
I am so intrigued by the detail of the human head.
The deep eye sockets and open nasal passages are reminiscent of a skull but then the creature has full robust lips.
The fastidiously carved pattern of the hollow body is incredible.
It must have taken Daniel weeks to carve this effect!
This stunning magical sculpture would be a life long favourite either for your collection or for a very special person in your life.
