Ohito has carved the faces of an Inuk family as separate cameos positioned separately in a row.

The parents are on either end and the young child is in the middle between them.

The family is being embraced by a bird with a hooked beak. 

I believe this bird is an eagle. 

It has spread its wings and wrapped them around the family for protection.

The deep green stone is rich and warm.

There are so many ways to look at this heart warming carving.

All of the interpretations I have thought of involve love, protection and man's place in nature.
