Sedna Spirit is one of George Arlook’s most endearing transformation pieces.
Transformation pieces are a unique subject matter within Inuit art.
Arlook is one of Inuit art’s greatest and most respected sculptors. Starting in the late 1990’s, Arlook’s work appeared in innumerable exhibitions. He is currently displayed at the WAG (Winnipeg Art Gallery).
Arlook’s experimentation with spiritual transformations is applauded by serious art enthusiasts. This particular Sedna spirit is rendered in fervent charcoal and tangerine stone. Her face is serene. She tips her head to the side and closes her eyes... waiting. Her mystique is haunting.
This carving would be an exceptional gift for the incomparable person in your life.
