I am fascinated with the countless ways the Inuit artists portray Bears.
I have been so lucky and honoured to see hundreds of Bear carvings and all of them are striking in their own way.
Carved in mudstone, from some vantage points the stone resembles a smooth and beautiful wood.
Although the camera lights give the stone a caramel gold look, the actual colour is more of a warm medium tan.
What I love about this bear is its geometric style. The head consists of two fused squares . By contrast, Louie has taken four thick tubes for the limbs and a spectacular powerful and muscular hind end.
One word to define this creature.
Mightiness.
