I love Inuit carvings that depict a friendship or love between two animals or birds.

I think many people attach human emotions to animals and inanimate objects like these two elegant loons.

Ning has lovingly presented us with a male and female loon who are obviously profoundly attached to each other.

The male seems to be protecting the female as they swim along the water surface.

The male is just a little bigger and more muscular.  

The female is dainty but strong as well.... like a ballet dancer.

Beautiful and peaceful.

Ning Ashoona is the only active female carver from Cape Dorset.
