Uriash Puqiqnak (b 1946) is an  internationally recognized Gjoa Haven artist whose style you may immediately recognize.

His sculptures often have open mouths with peglike crooked teeth. 

He loves to adorn heads with horse hair ponytails.

Like Goliath, the eyes are widely spaced, and are usually looking straight up to heaven.

The grotesque style include flat nose with wide large nostrils.

Art lovers are divided into two camps over these ghoulish creatures.  They are obsessively in love with them or won't give them a second look.

Uriash's Goliath is the poster child for his iconic style. 

Stubby legs, exaggerated clothing that you don't quite understand and often carrying the spoils of their hunt. 

Goliath is hoisting a very large fish which means his family will have full stomachs for a few days.  

Puqiqnak’s works are recognized internationally and have become staples of Canadian art.  

Goliath is one of his larger Masterpieces.  

Puqiqnak's carvings are cherished by collectors who appreciate these charismatic characters.
