This dramatic angst-filled and amusing sculpture relates theatrically to two works offered in separate but unique positions; dancing vs. diving.
Esau is my personal favourite artist. His pieces are so unique. His signature is the raised designs he painstakingly carves on the surface of the carving. A three dimensional “tattoo” of sorts.
This particular bear is adorned with exquisite arctic animal on its sides. The white matte stone is the only stone that can come close to imitating the dense fur of the polar bear. Every detail about Esau’s bear is lovingly crafted.
The beauty of this piece resonates throughout the entire room and your audience will be completely captivated by it.
Esau is from a very remote Inuit community called Igloolik. Artists in Igloolik have a unique style. They focus on creating sculptures to look as real as possible. The stone is rarely polished and they prefer a dry flat finish.
Esau is one of the top Inuit artists in the world for bear sculptures. This particular bear is personally one of our favourites, the most beautiful we've seen a long time. If you are as enchanted by Esau as I am, the gallery can offer another gift of Esau’s Bear and Seal on page 4 of New Arrivals.
This piece emotes physical strength (as the seal holds the bear high up in the air) and ecstatic emotion. Beautiful and majestic. Either sculpture will bring personality and joy to your collection.
