BARNABUS ARNASUNGAAQ was one of the earliest participants in the 1960s Baker Lake Carving Program.
Barnabus was a print maker but is best known for his carvings.
In fact, he became an internationally renowned and leading figure in contemporary Inuit sculpture.
He is a pioneer in the 1st generation of Inuit carvers and also one of the most highly decorated artists.
LOST IN THOUGHT is a tranquil Musk Ox grazing on the tundra.
Barnabus has communicated a spirit of WISDOM to Lost in Thought.
He has lifted his long face to look up to the heavens as he slowly ruminates on the tundra grass.
Have you appreciated the zigzag decoration that runs along the mammals lower body on his thick hair coat?
Stunning!
I have a bias toward Musk Ox carvings, I admit.
But Lost in Thought is a vintage Treasure carved by one of the most decorated and well known Inuit artists in the world.
