OWEIN (a noble wolf) is a young male wolf on the verge of Adulthood.
Wolves are an uncommon subject for many Inuit carvers.
But Kelly Etidloie also has the spirit of a wolf.
It seems right that Kelly has chosen to show us the "softer" side of a wolf.
Wolves are not just a fierce hunters and dangerous foes.
Wolves can be playful and compromising especially when looking after their pups.
Look at Owein's face.
It is calm and intelligent, not surly or snarling.
I believe that Kelly has concentrated on the canine aspect of the wolf.
After all, our domestic dogs are relatives of the wild wolf.
Owein's colour is a sparkling, deep green traversed with subtle veins of white.
The Inuit carvers' interpretation of the Arctic wolf is fascinating in its variations.
Etidloie's interpretation is one of the best!
