**Pavinak Petaulassie SIGNATURE Caribou carving
Masterpiece Carving! Museum quality Sculpture!
Provenance: September 2019 Sadly, Pavinak recently passed away. He was a pillar for the Inuit art community and was well known for his gentle and jolly caribous. This caribou came from another gallery that closed.. This is one of the last caribous by the late Pavinak Petaulassie.
Pavinak always carved his male caribou with exaggerated beards.
He also elongated their snouts and crowned their heads with minimalist style antlers.
No elaborate branching antlers for Jack.
These signature features give Jack a sense of humour.
There is no mistaking a Petaulassie Caribou.
They are distinctive and unusual in their demeanour.
Pavinak had a large international presence.
He will be missed.
