This walking bear with the magical red tongue is an exceptional find.
I did not hesitate to acquire this bear for my passionate and committed clients who always appreciate Iqaluq’s work and are eager to acquire more and more of his sculptures.
Jimmy finds this red stone on the seashore near his childhood home and uses it for inlaid eyes, tongues and once, for the feet of one of his famous loons.
The green argalite stone imparts a gentleness to the bear who has a happy countenance and appears to have a big smile on his face. Look at the details of this bear! The teeth, the inserted claws, the red tongue, the small childlike eyes. Iqaluq excels with his obsessive attention to the smallest detail.
This walking bear has sophistication and personality. Iqaluq’s sculptures have a certain “attitude” that sets them apart from all other carvings.
I am always excited and honoured to receive Jimmy’s art.
