Masterpiece Carving! Museum quality Sculpture!
Joanasie Manning is a world renowned Inuit carver whose owls are immediately recognized by collectors as being a "Manning owl".
Large round inlaid eyes, an inlaid prominent triangular nose and well defined ears make up the head of a Manning owl. The birds also sport long thickly muscled legs with impressive claws on its feet.
Manning often carves a protective Mother Owl with a vulnerable young chick.
Our Owl is a solitary adult with one wing folded against its body and the other in a semi extended position.
One foot is on the ground, and the other is lifted. Perhaps our beautiful raptor has just landed and is adjusting to being grounded.
The flawless jet black serpentine stone is spectacularly beautiful. Sensual, smooth, cool.
This particular stone is a signature Manning selection. Using this black stone immediately elevates Manning's owls to a higher standard of elegance and poise.
I love the movement of this piece.
You can feel the bird trying to right himself on the ground.
When an artist can create a sense of motion in a sculpture, you recognize that this is a highly skilled and creative individual.
You MUST have a Joanasie Manning Owl in your collection.
This enchanting bird of prey would also be an exceptional gift.
