This is a beautiful and rare four way dancing bear carved by Cape Dorset artist Sakkasie Ragee.
It is exceptionally difficult to carve two way Dancing bears that balance on two paws let alone carve a four way bear.
I love how this bear can touch his nose to the floor when he is balancing on one of his front paws.
Sakkasie is a magician. We have many of his four way Dancing bears in the gallery and each one has its own personality and posture.
In my 15 year experience as a curator, four way Dancing bears are exceedingly rare.
The small bears would be a delightful addition to your collection. They could be grouped together like a team of gymnasts.
They are also very affordable and would be a cherished gift for a birthday or anniversary.
