Happy Owl is a simple carving.
His lines are straightforward and uncomplicated.
His feet and tail feathers are chunky and square.
He has a round and robust head with wide innocent inlaid eyes.
His owl beak is more inferred than apparent.
Owl stands wings folded against his body, shielding his body from harm, but ready to lift off and fly in response to the slightest threat.
Happy Owl is all heart.
Kupakik Ningeocheak is exceptionally talented.
He is diverse in his subject matter and his carvings are versatile. They can be seen as traditional or contemporary which makes them popular and coveted.
But the true showstopper of this sculpture HAS TO BE the deep yellow/gold stone. Its intense energy is bedazzling!
I want to gaze at this carving forever ..... drink in the beauty of this colour.
This is a masterpiece owl.
Wise and stoic.
Ningeocheak is Coral Harbour’s greatest and most respected carver.
His reputation has helped establish this community as a prominent region for this particular style of carving.
Happy Owl would be a perfect Christmas gift for an experienced collector looking to add gentle energy to their collection.
Or it would be ideal for a teenager or young adult who is passionate about animal conservation.
