The enigmatic and whimsical movements of Qimirpik’s Dancing muskox have earned him international fame.
Chester is playful yet reserved; innocent yet worldly. To me, he resembles the Knight on a chessboard; regal and refined. The striking black marble adds mystery to the piece and accentuates the meticulous detail of the beast.
Look at the visual tension in this piece. Chester is perfectly balanced on one leg despite looking quite precarious.
Dancing carvings are small feats of engineering that challenge the artist’s carving skills.
Any of Pits’ carvings are a “must-have” for a diversified Inuit art collection.
They also are a sure win as a gift.
