Pitseolak is the sole Inuit artist in the world who carves with this rare serpentine stone. Once or twice a year will he make a beautiful owl like this in this stone. The stone is serpentine but comes from a very far place away from Kimmirut. Pitseolak got this really unique coloured stone near his fishing camp.

When I saw this owl, I knew immediately it was a very special piece. The gorgeous pinkish lime green stone is a color I have never seen in my life for an Inuit carving. This will be the only time you see an Owl by Pits in this color. The collage of pinkish and green colors adds a sense of calmness to the piece. Its soft pastel tones create a beautiful glow around it that makes it so distinguishable to that of other carvings you will see.

Furthermore, this is an exquisitely carved owl by Canada's most world renowned artists for owls - Pits Qimirpik. Pits Qimirpik has numerous prize winning pieces on an international scale. All of his owls sell for extremely high prices. His works can be found in Canada's national art collection in Ottawa.
