Outstanding owl by master Inuit artist Charlie Eyaituq from Sanikiluaq
What's interesting about this piece are the dramatic etching marks representing this owls feathers which are placed throughout the stone. This style of carving gives this piece an added sense of style and which draws attention. This is what drew me to it when I first saw it.
Charlie Eyaituks niche are his owls. They are always carved in a very positive, harmonistic way which really puts the audience in a good mood. His owls are soft with beautiful curvatures and vividly etched eyes. I love the argillite stone he carves with (native to Sanikiluaq). It allows his carvings to take on a refined, smooth texture showing off soft wavy grains surfing across the stone.
The carving is completely perfect! We buy directly from the artist and can offer you better deals.
