Masterpiece Carving! Museum quality Sculpture!
CURATOR'S CHOICE Pegasus,, Centaur, Unicorn . . . these mythical horse creatures have played important roles throughout human history. Humans' love for horses is so deep that that horses have become part of our myths and legends. I have never seen an Inuit half man/half horse carving. For this reason, Centaur is a CURATOR'S CHOICE.
When I first saw Centaur, I was astounded... first with the inspiration of Kupapik Ningeocheak and then with the magnificence and importance of this piece!
Centaurs have the upper body of a human and the lower body of a horse.
They possess the ability to speak as a human and have the power and speed of a horse.
Kupapik has not copied the image of the Greek mythical creature.
The Inuit influence is what makes Centaur a rare piece.
Indeed, this Centaur has a human right front leg and his head is more horse-like and less human.
BUT, this piece exudes the power and strength of a horse AND the intelligence of a man.
Ningeocheak honours both species with this incredibly beautiful carving.
I predict, that one day this piece will be held in a position of respect in an Art Gallery for all to appreciate.
For now, are you this Centaur's protector?
