This is a beautiful rendition of a swimming Beluga Whale by Louis Uttaq.
Queenie is elevated on a "rock" so the viewer can admire her graceful lines.
The stone is flawless.
I love Queenie's large tail but her face is her most charming feature.
Like all Belugas, Queenie has a high forehead and a demure beak of a mouth.
Her round white eyes are shy and modest.
Watching her swim away, you feel a bit sad that you won't see her again.
Queenie would be an extraordinary gift for a wedding, especially to someone who is new to Inuit art because this sculpture has such universal appeal.
